WEBSITE REDESIGN
REQUEST for PROPOSAL
Project Overview
NMPRSA is accepting proposals for a redesign of its website. The existing design, navigation and copy of the website will be the starting point for the redesign. Solutions for website hosting may be included. Timeline to launch: August 20, 2019.
Organization Overview
NMPRSA is the statewide chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the nation’s largest professional organization serving the communications community with a mission to make its professionals smarter, better prepared and more connected. NMPRSA offers members professional development opportunities, networking and social events, and celebrates innovation and excellence in the industry. NMPRSA is a nonprofit, membership-driven organization with a board of directors based in Albuquerque.
The website is a vital component of NMPRSA’s operations and communications strategy. We rely on the site to drive registration for events, encourage membership, share information, and access training and other resources that benefit our members.
NMPRSA has no staff, only a dedicated board who have demanding professional commitments. We need a website that is easy to access and update without much training in website maintenance.
Audience
The NMPRSA website serves as an informational dashboard for our events, services and programs to active members, prospective members and industry professionals.
Our audience mostly resides in New Mexico and represents communications professionals spanning every industry sector. Members visit our website for details and registration for our events, information on our annual Cumbre Awards program, to check out our Job Center and get updates on programs such as mentoring and accreditation. Our audience of prospective members visits our website for similar reasons, and to seek information on the benefits of membership and how to apply.
Website Objectives
Provide easy access to industry and membership information. A primary objective of our website is to give communications professionals information about our services and programs and resources pertinent to the industry. We want a dynamic, interactive, user-friendly site with concise copy displayed in a clean, spacious manner and the ability to display images and graphics in a variety of ways.
Drive event registration. NMPRSA hosts monthly luncheons, an annual awards program and other smaller events. Users rely on our website to review the details of events and to register. Our website will need to prominently display our events and link to registration. Event payment is handled through PayPal and should be a seamless process on the website. We want our site to prominently feature our events and make it easy to register.
Drive membership sign-ups. Our ability to increase membership sign-ups through an engaging and informative website is a huge opportunity for NMPRSA. Our website should provide information on membership promotions and benefits, and an easy way to join the organization. By being robust, up-to-date and contemporary, we’d like the website to be an effective recruitment tool.
Provide access to professional development and jobs. We want our website to be a place where people get added value through shared content, a dynamic and easily updatable job board, the ability to sign up for newsletters, and other services. For example, we’d like members-only access to videos of our luncheons, our membership directory and other exclusive items. And we’d like to be able to develop and send out member surveys.
Current Website
Our current website is run through the Joomla platform, which is difficult to update, resulting in a site that is outdated, unresponsive, ineffective and visually stale. The biggest challenge we face is the ability to edit pages, navigation, and media with ease.
You can visit our current website here: http://nmprsa.org/
New Website Functionality Requirements
While many of our users access our website on a desktop, we still want to make sure the site is responsive and can display media, text, menus and other elements on a variety of devices with ease.
We would like a strong media library/photo gallery capability. We like to post pictures from our events and being able to better store and showcase those images on our website would be ideal. Having the ability to upload images and other documents that are large in file size would be preferred.
We also want to build in SEO options so we can improve our organic search results.
New Website Wish List
• Responsive design for all devices
• Compatibility with third-party plugins (PayPal, MailChimp)
• Image gallery/album capabilities
• Homepage slide show
• Robust SEO options
• Form builder
• Customizable layout
• Multiple menu capabilities
• Social feed widgets
• Pop-up and/or floating window capabilities
• Security updates and patches
• Uptime monitoring
• Malware scanning and backup
• Troubleshooting for 12 months
Proposal Requirements
Please include the following in your proposal:
• Synopsis of your process and strategy
• Line items of estimated costs
• Annual hosting cost
• Timeline of development and launch
• Options for support services, such as training, web and email hosting, monthly/on-call maintenance, etc.
• At least one sample of recent website development work
The deadline for submission of your proposal is
Friday, June 28, 2019, 5:00 pm (MT) via email.

We’re a Denver-based digital marketing company currently operating over 1100 sites off of a multi-tenant PHP platform running in Amazon Web Services. We’re moving our rapidly-scaling development team into Albuquerque and are looking for local talent to start the team here. We need experienced full-stack PHP / JS developers for a fast-paced, high-stakes production environment that spans many different frameworks and code bases.
We're looking for the best talent this town has to offer and are offering compensation to match. This is a local salaried position in Albuquerque, with occasional travel to Denver.
We run a small, lean team, which means things move quickly and our people need to be flexible and enjoy excitement. We’re in the process of making major changes to our architecture, and need developers who can see a technical framework from a big-picture perspective, offer advice and guidance on the direction that architecture should go, and then implement large-scale foundational changes to that framework, and then could jump immediately over to an emergency fix for a front-end form validation in jQuery on a site that’s currently receiving heavy production traffic.
As a team, we’ll be choosing where to establish our office, how to structure our team, etc. as we go along. We’ll have the flexibility and excitement of a startup with the funding of an established company.
Required skills:
* Detailed understanding of object-oriented programming concepts such as encapsulation, dependency injection, DRY code, etc.
* PHP up to v7.0
* Experience in MVC frameworks, particularly Laravel (there will also be legacy work in CakePHP v2, but hopefully not for much longer)
* MySQL (other DB experience, such as Redis, MongoDB, etc. is a plus)
* Ubuntu server terminal
* Javascript including jQuery and front-end frameworks like React and Angular
* HTML5 / CSS3
* In-depth understanding of version control with git, including resolving merge conflicts, reverting bad commits / merges, branch management, pull requests, etc.
* Amazon web services (EC2, Route 53, elastic beanstalk, cloudfront, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
* Atlassian software, particularly BitBucket and Jira
* Focus on writing beautiful, clean, readable code
* Writing clear and thorough technical documentation
* Automated testing experience with PHPUnit or other PHP testing libraries
* Real production experience with deployment, server provisioning, etc.
* Setting up and using VMs with Vagrant
Send a resume and code samples / links to projects to which you've contributed.

Do you daydream about making improvements to projects that are "complete"? Are you interested in continuously learning more within your field (and outside it even)? Do you want to work in an environment that wants you to be the best at what you want to be? Do you want to be challenged to create applications and user interfaces in ways that have not yet been imagined? Do you want your work to positively affect people's lives?
We're looking for someone who wants all of the above and is passionate about writing clean code and working as an integral part of a fun team that launches great work on the web.
About Us
We're a small company that mostly works remotely. We work on projects ranging from movie marketing sites and applications to medical reporting tools. We strive to build digital products that make a positive difference in people's daily lives, and some are just for fun!
We spend our day on HipChat, Teamwork, Google Hangouts, InVision and Git. If there's an online tool that streamlines what we're doing, we try and integrate it. We do our best to keep communication flowing so no one ends up in a silo (sometimes hard to do being remote, but we try). We don't like inefficient meetings but are always ready to answer questions or brainstorm ideas. If you know a better way to do something we're already doing - let us know. We have fun and we get things done.
Most of our current applications are running on Laravel, or just custom PHP. JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, with an eye out for using meteor.js, Ionic, node.js as project requirements require. When we plan a project we start with the solution and user experience first, then use whatever code base best supports those project goals rather than trying to fit every project into one technical framework.
About You
Currently familiarity with Laravel is required because of the existing apps that would need support. Ideally you have a good visual sense and have built front-end pages based on pixel perfect precision. Visually we're super picky, like SUPER picky. Our entertainment clients are too...
You're smart, you have a sense of humor, you care about the quality of your work, you want to get better at what you do and learn new things, you're not afraid to speak up and you don't need your hand held to get things done. You comment your Git commits, you troubleshoot and test your work, you ask questions and you make suggestions... And maybe sometimes you post a video of something you find funny, or moving, or sad, or fascinating.
Above all you are consistent. If we don't know when you'll be around this won't work. If you don't reply to emails or HipChat comments this won't work. If you don't show up when you said you would, this won't work. It's baffling how many people do not realize the importance of these simple points...
Some Logistics
We mostly work remotely but would love to find someone in Santa Fe or ABQ so that face to face meetings could be held easily. Working in either the Mountain or Pacific time zone is required.
We're initially looking to add someone on a contract basis - we always do this because it takes some time to get to know each other and make sure this is a good fit. If it's a great fit then we can talk about other options because we're interested in long lasting relationships that benefit everyone involved.

As well as the technical knowledge, we need people who can figure things out by themselves but know when to ask for help. Cutting down and simplifying complex problems with interfaces which make them straightforward and usable.
The more pressing needs definitely require familiarity and comfort with PHP frameworks, Laravel and ImpressPages
If you’re interested please reply with some examples of your work and what specifically you were responsible for in developing the projects. Doesn’t need to be a long list - just choose the top 3 or 4 projects you are the most proud of, and anything else you think we should know. I am looking for a developer and/or co-founder for a website that enhances small business growth, community engagement and education on the local level. The goal is for the website to become a profitable business that benefits local economies and communities across the U.S. You can get an idea for what the startup is about by visiting the “landing page” at Edinia.com.
I am looking for someone who is passionate about the idea, offers their own creative bend, and who cares about making people's lives a little more interesting and meaningful.
The website would require the following capabilities, among others:
• Accounts / user profiles
• Allow members to list services that will be purchased
• Payment management
• Database management
• Email capabilities
* Although this website is very different in its niche, the developer must have the skills to create websites like TripAdvisor or Meetup, as it will have similar functionality and capabilities.
As with many startups, during the initial phase, development will be compensated with substantial company equity. External funding will be sought shortly, using a variety of methods, to help grow the company and create revenue streams to support competitive salaries.
A little bit about me:
I have the ability to bootstrap the business, contribute some initial personal funds when necessary, as well as to invest 40+ hours/week. I also have extensive experience within this niche/target market and a passion for its mission. I am currently working on the business plan, marketing plan, market research, and simple, elegant website designs to drive conversion. I have received positive feedback, a lot of interest, and some valuable input from potential consumers who are willing to be early adopters.
I believe my marketing plan can result in substantial use (a proven track record) with very limited monetary investment prior to receiving external funding. I am also building email lists and strong incentive programs to increase traffic and engagement.
If you have any questions or would like to connect, send an email to Info@edinia.com.

Hi Friends,
Marco here. I’m a ruby/rails dev myself and I was wondering if you’re interested in taking a new web developer under your wing for 1 hour per week.
Here’s the gist:
Me and a few other developers are running the FirehoseProject (http://www.thefirehoseproject.com) - a 12 week mentor driven online coding program to train the next generation of web developers.
Our code mentors take a student under their wing for 12 weeks, pair program with them for one-hour per week and guide them towards their personal coding goal.
Throughout each week, students work on building several web applications (think Yelp and Udemy clones), solve real-world coding challenges (traversing trees, linked lists, etc.), build a web app through TDD and join a group project to build a chess game as a team.
Our mentors are senior web devs with experience from PayPal, eBay, Product Hunt, Flickr, bit.ly, Techstars & Y-Combinator companies, and get excited by seeing a beginner grow into a proficient developer who's able to solve complex CS challenges.
You can see what some of our students are saying about us here (http://www.quora.com/Reviews-of-theFirehoseProject) and find more info about what our mentors are doing here (http://www.thefirehoseproject.com/expert-mentors).
Are you interested in taking a new web developer under your wing?

Marco

Your particular language of choice is not important as long as it's object oriented and relevant.

Does this sound like you? Send us a cover letter, resume and your salary requirements and we'll get back to you. Want to stand out from the crowd? Include in your cover letter links to projects you worked on and tell us how you contributed.
