Project ECHO is currently building our ECHO IT team and has an exciting new opportunity for an IT Service Specialist. This is a programming position. The successful individual will be responsible for analyzing and planning the technical direction of our software development, data models, and tools to ensure that decisions made are optimal; and that they will enable us to grow and meet the needs of all our customers. This individual must be familiar with state of the art solutions for scaling secure web applications, and must stay current with advances in the industry. Finally, the IT Services Specialist will be a champion for using the best solutions, and will teach the rest of the development team how to program optimal solutions.
Preferred qualifications:
Advanced experience in PHP application development and best practices
Deep experience in MySQL and data design
Experience with NoSQL database platforms such as MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB, etc.
Experience deploying scalable web applications on cloud-hosted environments
Excellent demonstrated communication and leadership skills

Note: Looking for candidates who are in the Albuquerque metro area. There is no provided relocation for this position.
Primarily responsible for building next generation products at Aviata. These new products are SAAS based and are working with leading technologies in the industry. Secondary responsibilities may include supporting existing client web content and making changes as requested.
As this posting is for various skill levels, there is some flexibility on the requested skillset. For a junior / entry-level developer - they don't need to know Node.js - but should be familiar with JavaScript. Someone coming in at a Senior level should be an expert in the requested areas (except possibly Scala), many of the tools, and can hit the ground running and be able to contribute in a big way. They should be able to mentor the rest of the team and drive new ideas / approaches.
New product development stack:
- Angular.js / or React.js
- Node.js
- Scala - Play framework 2.x
- Some Java here and there
- PostgreSQL / Cassandra
Tools of the trade
- Docker, Git, Swagger, CI and CD tools (Jenkins)
Existing client web content
- PHP, JavaScript, and Angular.js
Requested skills
- Java backend or Scala backend experience
- Strong JavaScript experience
- Node.js especially
- Experience working with relational databases (like MySQL / PostgreSQL)
