I've been programming professionally since 1978. I got my MSCS from UNM in 1985. I founded Abacus Research & Development in 1986. We did emulation and reverse-engineering. Back then I did a ton of low-level programming in C. I started learning Ruby in 2005 and Ruby on Rails in 2006. My "cobbler's children's shoes" web-site has more info.
In 2018 I began learning Rust and in 2019 I'm doing all my side-project work in Rust (whether it makes sense to or not!).
In addition to contract programming, I'm a member of Cibola Search and Rescue and the founder of RubiABQ, a Ruby users group for Albuquerque. I used to have a love/hate relationship with Albuquerque, but I lost the hate when I suspended my entrepreneurial activities.
