Project ECHO® is seeking a mission-driven, strategic, technologically savvy individual to join our leadership team as our IT Director. This highly competitive position provides an opportunity to lead a team of talented IT professionals to achieve mission-centered goals related to cutting edge community healthcare research that extends healthcare to rural and underserved populations.
The successful candidate will manage and lead our team of IT professionals; set direction for how Project ECHO will leverage technology to dramatically increase its scale and scope; ensure that Project ECHO’s work manages data securely and in compliance with HIPAA and other information security initiatives; and be a key player in shaping a Big Data strategy to realize the immense value embedded in the patient and treatment data of the collective ECHO network and community.
Transforming primary care to meet the needs of people in underserved communities is at the heart of Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes). Project ECHO strengthens the healthcare system by empowering front-line primary care providers to do more, for more patients. Project ECHO received the Ashoka Disruptive Innovation in Health and Health Care Award in 2007 and has set an ambitious goal: to touch the lives of one billion people by 2025. Project ECHO is more than just a model, it is a movement.
As a result, we are looking for an individual who, first and foremost, cares deeply about our mission. This individual should also be highly experienced in directing technical software development and implementation; making hardware and software recommendations for new and expanding technologies; ensuring HIPAA-compliance and information security; and setting appropriate vision and strategy for our use of technology. This position requires proven success in project management, IT needs analysis, data management strategies, staff management, and problem resolution strategies. Project ECHO is an initiative of the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, NM.
