Sol Oriens is seeking a Computer Engineer to provide scientific software programming support to a United States Air Force customer at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. Core responsibility is to support and maintain a software product that predicts and provides operational guidance for aircraft affected by nuclear weapon detonations. You will participate in the development, upgrading and modernization of software to include user interfaces, software control of Windows databases and providing support for the updating of scientific simulation software, primarily written in Visual Basic (.NET) and FORTRAN, and may require updating software using one or more of the following software tools: Java, Python, C#/C++/C, Visual Basic, .NET.
You will work with a diverse team, technically and geographically, of government and contractor personnel. Concurrently with
software efforts, the team will conduct hardware studies to assess derivative effects such as thermal, radiation, and blast/shock over pressure environments.
Desired Experience and Education Requirements: An advanced degree (Master's) is highly desired, and candidates with a Master's degree will be given preference. Experience/expertise with FORTRAN. Knowledge and experience in data acquisition, test participation, data reduction, and the design and/or application of statistical methods is highly desirable.
